Echoly Privacy Policy

Echoly helps you practise spoken English by shadowing. This page explains what data the app uses, why, who processes it, and how you can delete it. We do not show ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not use your data for advertising.

1. Data we collect

2. Data that stays on your phone

• Recordings you make in Record & check are saved on your phone only.
• When you import audio from a video, the sound is extracted on your phone. The video is never uploaded. Only the audio leaves the phone, and only if you share it.
• Some versions of Echoly can import the sound of a YouTube, Facebook or Instagram link. Your phone downloads the audio directly from that site. We only receive the audio if you ask for an auto transcript, and audio from links is never shared with other learners.
• Cutting or editing audio happens on your phone.
• Check my pronunciation uses your phone's speech recognition service, for example Google's. That service handles your voice under its own privacy policy. Echoly only sees the recognised words, uses them to show your score, and does not store them.

3. We do not collect

Location, contacts, photos, call logs, advertising ID, payment details, or anything from other apps.

4. Who processes the data (service providers)

• Google Firebase: sign-in (Authentication), the database (Cloud Firestore) and notifications (Cloud Messaging).
• Cloudflare: our server (Workers), audio storage (R2) and speech-to-text (Workers AI, Whisper).
• Google AI (Gemini) and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech: only the text you send to make an AI voice or a translation.

These providers process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy terms. Data may be processed outside Bangladesh. All traffic between the app and these services is encrypted (HTTPS).

5. Public content

Audio you share is not public until our team approves it. Once approved, it becomes a lesson that other learners can see, with the name you chose as the author.

• Audio made with our AI voice, or with our auto transcript, is always sent for review if the app tells you so before you create it.
• Please don't share anything private, or audio you don't have the right to share.

6. How long we keep data

• Your data is kept until you delete your account.
• Audio that was rejected in review is deleted from our storage.
• Daily usage counters are numbers only and are removed within 60 days.

7. Delete your account and data

• In the app: Me → Account → Delete my account. This deletes your account, progress backup, shared audio and its review, and everything saved on the phone.
• Without the app: follow the steps on the delete account page.
• Lessons we already published from your audio stay in the library without your account, unless you ask us to remove them too.

8. Children

Echoly is meant for learners aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13.
